IMDB report of Bates' death

As of the moment of this writing Bates' bio at IMDb lists her as having died on June 28th, her 61st birthday, but I am pretty sure it's a mistake since there are no other reports of her death. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 18:59, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

P.S. This same sort of thing happened with Louise Fletcher and Brenda Joyce. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 19:00, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

..

none of her telvision apperances are here...can you put some of them here she recently guest starred on the office —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.47.227.146 (talk) 05:41, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Films

Changed a bit about the synopsis of some of her movies. For instance, it was said Primary Colors was semi-biographical. I think I know what the editor meant but it was based on real events. --Wikitoddia 07:23, 22 June 2006 (UTC) There's repeats in the filmography chart as well — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.212.141.119 (talk) 13:52, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Home Alone 2

She was not in the film 'my sisters keeper' so didi not win an award for it. Strangely, the TV write of the film also had the same mistakes. Did the BBC copy the info from Wiki or vsa-versa?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.150.3.4 (talk) 23:49, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

"Around this time she took a small part in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York alongside Macaulay Culkin" -- what part did she play? The movie is not listed on her imdb page. Banaticus (talk) 08:53, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Actor or Actress?

We have had quite a bit of back-and-forth editing over whether Kathy Bates should be described as an "actor" or an "actress."

I'm not aware of a policy on this question (and the Actor#The_term_actress sub-article on the term actress seems to indicate there is not consensus on the issue more generally, so I assume this means we should resolve it through discussion on the talk page.

My own position leans in the "actor" direction (I don't see why a profession should require a gender modifier --- i.e. we don't refer female lawyers as anything other than "lawyer") but I'm aware of the long usage of the term "actress," particularly by many of the award shows and whatnot, so I'm hoping others can shed light on what should be the proper usage. I found the edit where it was changed from "actress" to "actor". I was unaware that that change had been made by an IP and wasn't quite as stable as I thought it was...though it was basically stable since November.
I don't have a strong stance on it, though MOS:GNL to me would favor "actor" over "actress". I'm not going to lose any sleep over it though. DonIago (talk) 18:10, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
