Aluminum?

This is not confirmed, but a person who has lived in Georgia reports that the statue is not aluminum. Can anyone confirm this?

Hi, I'm Georgian and as I know it is aluminium. Actually this is Kartlis Deda "Mark II", in mid 90's old design (if I may say so) was modified by sculptor and new statue was erected. You can see both, new and old, statues on Georgian page of the article [1] If I remember correctly, in order to maintain symbolism, old statue was dismantled only after new one was erectred and for several days there were tow statues on the mountain causing rather disturbing thoughts in people with hangover.

Incorrect translation

  • Kartlis deda is not Mother of Georgia. It means mother of Kartli. An eastern Georgian region. Kartli and Georgia are not the same things.--Satt 2 (talk) 20:44, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

move

I've moved the page to its original name as it is Kartvlis Deda and not Kartlis Deda. I've sourced it as well. Also you can check out the original Georgian Wikipedia page for it as well. Jaqeli 12:26, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I moved the page back. Digging up stuff from decades ago to see what the name was supposed to be is speculation and original research. In any case, per WP:TITLE articles should follow the most common/recognizable usage, and I've never seen anyone use Kartvlis.--Damianmx (talk) 08:33, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
