Gender of vessels
I understand that ships are usually given female names and referred to as "she" in english, even when the names lack distinctive gender (e g the Black Pearl, or the Interceptor). But Lembit and Kalev in modern estonian are distinctly masculine names. So I ask of you who speak english as their first language to tell me, if it would be possible to refer to Kalev as "he"? (Estonian language lacks the gender category, so my own sense of language has little use in this subject.) Siidisukk (talk) 11:54, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
