Spanish name

If this edit is correct it seems to be an exception to the usual practice for Spanish names as indicated by Template:Spanish name.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 17:17, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Admittedly I am not familiar with Spanish naming, but I could only see him referred to as Esquivel; rather than Cruz Esquivel. By Atlético Tucumán here, and a few fan accounts here and here. I'm not saying I am correct, only giving the reason why I originally put Esquivel and subsequently reverted your edit. I assumed it would be similar to the way Juan Manuel Vargas is referred to? If it is supposed to be Cruz Esquivel, then that's cool. R96Skinner (talk) 18:38, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You are probably right to follow the usage of the sources you have used. Spanish naming customs however mean that people take a first surname from their father and a second surname from their mother but do not always use both names. So in this case he could be Juan Cruz or Juan Cruz Esquivel.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 10:42, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
