Wolpe spoke of introducing an adaptive behavior during the temporary state of exhaustion of a maladaptive behavior, in a process called reciprocal inhibition, not systematic desensitization. The two processes are similar, but systematic desensitization isn't actually concerned with the adaptive behavior. An example of Wolpe's technique was to teach the patient how to relax muscularly, and to tell them to go through this relaxation process during a traumatic response. I'd like to change this article to this more correct explanation of Wolpe's techniques. Any objections?--DivineAna 17:07, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
