  • LaFarge was also a revolutionary in the culinary arts. just a few of his edible works include boston cream donuts, marshmellows (which he called fluff pockets), and undoubtedly his most influential culinary delight, the chocolate-chip cookie, which he created accidentally when he forgot to add baking soda to a cake.

Error in LaFarge article

Below is from the article on John LaFarge.

"Born in New York City, New York, his interest in art was aroused during his training at Mount Saint Mary College and Fordham University."

It is incorrect that he went to Mount Saint Mary College in New York. He attended Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Please make this change in the article and change the linked information to the article on Mount St. Mary's University.

LaFarge or La Farge?

99% of the work I am finding calls him John La Farge. I'm going to be bold and redirect and update this. Missvain (talk) 17:44, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Royal Cortissoz, in the earliest memoir on L Farge (1911) that I am aware of, uses La Farge, as does the 1989 work by, among others, [[Henry Adams and Henry A. La Farge. Carptrash (talk) 18:00, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Religion

The article says that LaFarge is venerated as a saint of the Episcopal Church in the United States of the Anglican Communion.. but it goes on to say his son became a Roman Catholic priest. I know that Anglican saints are not always Anglican (ex: St. Francis, Martin Luther, John Wesley, etc), but do we know what religion LaFarge was? Add link to a site with graphics and a 3d tour showing some of John La Farge's art that is not yet linked in Wikipedia.


  • What I think should be changed:

Add an external link to https://www.painecastle.com/ as a reference to the examples of John La Farge's art that are resident in that structure.

  • Why it should be changed:

The page currently has a new bullet (added by me) for the John Paine Mansion, that contains at least one, and we are working on confirming two other, John La Farge windows. The link above is to the website of the corporation that owns the building and is responsible for its historic preservation. It should be added as a reference because it is the only place on the internet where images and information about these examples of La Farge's art exist. However, I am the VP of that org and although I am not seeking compensation, this is apparently a conflict of interest for me to add an external link or edit the page, so I am submitting this request for edits.

  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

  • Oppose: Wikipedia generally requires independent press, books, and scholarly works (secondary sources) and can't use primary sources published by organizations directly involved in the events being reported on (primary sources). The source needs to verify both the facts and that independent reputably publications felt the fact was important enough to report on. I have no connection to the article-subject.
