Surgeon getting credit for anesthesia?
...was one of the most renowned American surgeons of the 19th century, and the first to demonstrate surgery with anesthesia.
I think that credit goes to Morton. Warren was suspicious before the demonstration by Morton. It was Morton who demonstrated to the public (and Warren) the new discovery.
Perhaps it would be better to state:
...was one of the most renowned American surgeons of the 19th century. He granted permission to William T.G. Morton to provide ether anesthesia while Warren performed a minor surgical procedure. This was the first public demonstration of surgical anesthesia.
As usual, Wikipedia is wrong
The cross-ref atop this article says:
For his son who was also a surgeon, see John Collins Warren, Jr.
On navigating thereto, we're told the latter:
was born ... to Dr. Jonathan Mason Warren ...
So who's wrong, the writer of this heading or the writer of the other article?
For that matter, you wanna name this Warren's wife, and children?
