Birthdate, full name are unsourced.

The actor's birthdate and middle name are not sourced anywhere in the article. If someone can point it out, implement a source or two that are considered reliable, then by all means restore the content. As of right now, we do not have enough sources, so it would be best as to leave them out. It was mentioned even Intelius is unreliable, which I am not sure about. In addition, the original birth date was August 4. 1984, not 1988. Several sources say that she graduated in 2003 from high school. How could she be born in 1988 and graduate HS in 2003? I guess it could happen, but we have to put these into consideration – Tinton5 (talk) 21:06, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've not paid too much attention to the birth year sources, and was considering removing the year completely. Given what little discussion is here, and the poor sources that have been used for '88, I've left it at '84 for now. --Ronz (talk) 16:54, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Looking closer, she's disclosed '84 multiple times, even discussing it in detail. What am I missing? --Ronz (talk) 17:05, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing, as far as I can tell. At this point, any "official" challenge to her DOB here should be taken to WP:OTRS. I'm going to go ahead and restore. --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:23, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And that's what it looks like a this point, an "official" challenge. The person using the ip should look over WP:COI. --Ronz (talk) 20:04, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

From birth records that I'm finding (primary sources that I don't believe should be used), she was born "Jennifer Elizabeth Lilley" in '84. I did find some sources we might use or at least help us in finding other sources:

To: IJBall, Please explain. Thanks!

Puffery? This is my edited version after responding to Ronz. I researched "puffery" and edited the puffery out. Please tell me where the puffery still is.

Also, I've cited two sources, including her own post on her own Facebook page, and there are many more sources available that discuss their reasons for foster parenting - this is undisputed fact. Please tell me what the problem is with sourcing so I can fix it.

By the way, I do not know Lilley, but I have been a foster parent and want to make her experiences known to the public so that there is an accurate and current representation on Wiki about their foster parenting. The more people know about it, the more foster parents we will find for these 1,000's of children needing foster care and adoption.

Please help me get it right? I've spent hours trying to do this in a professional way, teaching myself. I don't think I can learn more on my own.

Thanks!

Here is what I put in the second time (copied from edit history):

Lilley and her husband are foster parents. Her June 14, 2018 on Facebook post states that they have a toddler and a new baby.[1] When asked their reason for becoming foster parents, she says, "In short, my faith and conviction. James 1:27 says that caring for orphans in their distress is the purest form of religion. Proverbs 3:27 says, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.” And it is in my power to help orphans in their distress, so I absolutely must obey that conviction."[2]

Your notes: (Undid revision 847080962 by Sing3 (talk) - As per User:Ronz's previous reversion: if this is to be included, we need a high-quality secondary source or two to demonstrate notability; also, should be added without WP:PUFFERY...) Sing3 (talk) 20:43, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging Ronz, because I am quite sure they will do a better job explaining this than I can... --IJBall (contribstalk) 20:53, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's promotion, as pointed out in your own edit summaries. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a venue to echo promotions per WP:SOAP. If there independent sources reporting on this in a way that indicates encyclopedic value, then some mention may be due. --Ronz (talk) 21:57, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ronz The fact that they are foster parents is a fact. How many kids they have is a fact. Numerous other wiki articles discuss such things.

Also, whenever someone is a foster parent, they are asked why they do such a risky thing. It is normal to ask that question, as you can see by the many interviews when the reporters asked that question. People want to know why. They want to know cause and effect. That is also information.

An encyclopedia is a source of facts. Cause and effect are facts. And there are numerous independent sources that give us this information about Lilley.

Sure, the reason I'm here adding it is because I care. I admit that. We all have subjective reasons for the things we do, and it takes work to be an objective reporter no matter who we are.

But I am reporting objectively just the facts. I volunteer for a news agency and understand what objectivity means. Please reconsider your answers here and help me understand why we cannot state that they are foster parents and her quote that states why. I appreciate your time. Ronz Will you also explain the reason for taking off this part about charities? You said it was Promo. I don't care about the TV station or that church. I'm just stating the facts that she was there as a guest doing charity work. Please tell me how I can say it differently so that it will pass professional standards. People have a right to know that she is involved in foster parenting and that she asks churches to help foster parent. These are facts about her, just like all the other facts in there about other charity things that she does. How is this different?

Here is what I had: − On June 17, 2018, Lilley was a guest on the televised church service "Hour of Power," promoting foster care through local churches.[3][4] Sing3 (talk) 01:05, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That they are foster parents and have a certain number of children, if properly referenced, deserves a sentence at most.
The rest is puffery and promotion.
See WP:NOTNEWS on why Wikipedia does not simply included everything that is published in the news.
Again, the solution is better sources. --Ronz (talk) 02:46, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Why have you taken down my edits? I cited all of the changes. All are extremely accurate. Why are you tampering with the information? Do you want me to list more sources? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.164.179.98 (talk) 22:35, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1) It's poorly sourced (e.g. IMDb is not a reliable source, esp. for WP:BLPs, as per WP:RS/IMDb and WP:Citing IMDb, and most of your other sources were either problematic or were WP:PRIMARY. 2) Your additions were WP:UNDUE – Lilley is primarily notable for being an actress, so the focus of the article should be her acting career. Brief mention of other activities may or may not be appropriate, depending on editor consensus, but this WP:COATRACK of ancillary information is certainly not, and is WP:UNDUE. Addition of this kind of content has been a persistent problem at this article, and content like this should not be readded unless there is editor consensus to add it. --IJBall (contribstalk) 23:04, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay thank you. I will look for more independent sources. She is also a singer, however, and that has been a primary focus of hers this year. She is also a foster parent. I will find independent sources. Thank you for your quick response. — Preceding unsigned comment added by [[24.139.25.226 (talk) 15:17, 18 November 2018 (UTC)Special:Contributions/24.139.25.22624.139.25.226 (talk) 15:17, 18 November 2018 (UTC)|24.139.25.226]] (talk) 14:52, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if I site a primary source, and then link a youtube video of Jen actually saying what the article says, is that helpful or not? Thank you again for explaining proper sourcing to me. I'm learning and just want Jen's profile updated since she has done so much in the past 5 years that are not on her profile.24.139.25.226 (talk) 15:17, 18 November 2018 (UTC)207.164.179.98[reply]

WP:ABOUTSELF can be used to source bio info, but to determine whether a WP:BLP's activities are truly notable, significant secondary source coverage of that activity would have to be required. --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:05, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Okay I updated the site with several independent sources for almost every add. If you want to edit, please don't edit my contributions entirely. I worked extremely hard finding multiple sources for each addition, and citing them correctly using the Wiki coding. (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:03, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
