"Is" versus "was"

With regards to this revert.

When a person dies, it is standard procedure to change the "is" in the lead to a "was". The "was" on this article isn't in reference to the roles he is known for but for the state of his existence. Jeff Conaway "was" an actor - he can't be one anymore because he is deceased, so "is" is incorrect. I added the comma in my edit to differentiate between his life and his roles.
