Effect of Appropriations Cmte chairmanship on elections

In addition, it is considered all but impossible to defeat an Appropriations Committee chairman in an election. I assume you're arguing causation: Whitten was reelected in part because he was Appropriations chairman. Perhaps that's true, but then again it may be only a matter of correlation rather than causation, especially in Whitten's case. No mention of his having a stroke in mid 1993

Could well be why he was removed as chair of the Appropriations committee in 1993 and why he didn't seek reelection in 1994 ? - Rod57 (talk) 19:50, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
