NOTE: This person's name is one of many, many names of publicly known people which have been used/abused by criminals as part of fraudulent schemes.

Ibori's Actual Age

On the Wiki page, it is stated that Ibori is was born on 4 August 1959 which makes him 61 years in 2021. But there are conflicting accounts out there, for example:

- In this BBC article that was run during his arrest in 2012, it stated that the police said he was 49 years, which puts his year of birth to 1962 (since his birthday is in august and he was convicted in February he would later clock 50 in august of that year). This article is also corroborated with another one by Sahara Reporters where they claimed that he gave his date of birth in court as August 4th 1962 (link to article)

- Since Ibori became governor of Delta State, Nigeria in 1999 there has been a lot of annual publications (Newspapers and Billboards) to celebrate his birthday which is in line with Nigeria political culture. The age in these publications have been very consistent and they put him to be 63 years old this year. Here are some examples: 

   - A publication by the chief of staff of the delta state governor Olorogun David Edevbie congratulating him on his 62nd birthday in 2020 (link to article)
   - Another publication by the Speaker of the Delta State house of assembly in 2019 congratulating him on his 61st birthday (link to article)
   - A Vanguard Newspaper publication of his 56th birthday in 2014 by Olorogun John U. Oguma (link to publication)

The publications are numerous and they all consistently put his date of birth at 4th August 1958. I will concede that there have been accusations that he changed his age when he returned to Nigeria to prevent his convictions from the UK from being traced to him; however, this could be his real age and the one he gave in the UK court the false one since he was using a false name in the UK - "Obori".
