IPA in Jaws

Michael found a possibly useful link, with advice on reading IPA or other Unicode characters in JAWS, by editing an .sbl file :Getting JAWS 6.1 to recognize "exotic" Unicode symbols.Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy Mabbett; Andy Mabbett's contributions 21:16, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Issues

  • Also, per Wikipedia's WP:Verifiability and WP:Reliable sources guidelines and policies, articles cannot be sourced only with WP:primary sources (the vendor) and press releases. Please add WP:Inline citations of additional reliable sources to support the vast majority of statements made in this article. Primary sources can be added, but they are neither necessary nor sufficient, to demonstrate notability, or to verify statements made.

This is a challenge to do research and build a better article, which will be immune from threat of deletion. Such WP:reliable sources include books, scholarly or professional journals, magazines, and news articles, and should include reviews, analysis, comparison with other similar products, etc. The sources can be online, but cannot be wikis or forums, and should not be blogs. If there are questions, feel free to discuss here, or on my talk page. For help, see WP:Your first article and WP:References for beginners.--Lexein (talk) 11:15, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've quickly added a secondary source about JAWS' popularity, and therefore removed the notability tag. Of course more secondary sources are needed and would be welcome, but this article is at absolutely no risk of deletion. The bulk of it was written when Wikipedia's standards for sourcing were nowhere near as strict as they are now. Graham87 15:03, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, usually 2 or 3 good beefy sources are needed for N over time, but ok. I was exhausted last night - I've added a book & support for the DOS claim, and started a Features section. --Lexein (talk) 21:06, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Latest version

Hello,

Latest version of JAWS has been changed on February 4th this year.

I'm quite new in Wikipedia and for some reason I can't edit this in the article, nor can I tick the «I am highly knowledgeable about this topic (optional)»checkbox.

Current JAWS version is 14.0.1534.

P.S. I wanted to add a prooflink to FS's website, but I didn't know it would throw a captcha at me. So no link, sorry. Anarendil (talk) 15:11, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reminding me. I was going to do this the day it was released, as I normally do, but I had unrelated computer problems around that time, and then I completely forgot about it. Re, the captcha: if you make three more edits anywhere you like (including the sandbox), you will become autoconfirmed, and thus you will never encounter the captcha again.
