Lead paragraph clarity

As someone with minimal chemistry experience, the lead paragraph seems confusing and uninformative. For example, the first line, "Isotope dilution analysis is a method of analyzing chemical substances in analytical chemistry," seems circular to me and not particularly informative. The next sentence needs help too: "In its most simple conception, the method of isotope dilution comprises the addition of isotopically-enriched substance to the analyzed sample." This is saying that isotopes are added to the sample, but doesn't explain anything about the dilution analysis itself.

As a reference, the Britannica page on isotope dilution seems more comprehensible and educational. Please help us non-chemists! EStrunz (talk) 22:05, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Isotopic dilutionIsotope dilution – In science, the term "isotope dilution" is the standard, not the adjectival "isotopic dilution" j.meija 13:57, 9 April 2013 (UTC) Agree I'm going to WP:BOLD and make the change, in accordance with WP:RM#When_not_to_use_this_pageRgambord (talk) 17:03, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
