Breastplates?

"John Lardner and William Leiper—the sons of two Light Horse cavalrymen who were part of the reconnaissance mission—wore the breastplates of British officers captured that day."

British dragoons didn't wear breastplates. Do you think Messrs Lardner and Leiper might have been wearing gorgets instead? Chuntuk (talk) 13:22, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

To answer my own question, I just consulted the cited source which says "The gorgets or breastplates captured with the British officers on this occasion, were worn in 1824 by William J Leiper and John Lardner[...]" Gorget is the correct term for this bit of kit, so I've changed the wording in the article accordingly Chuntuk (talk) 13:32, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
