The consensus is to merge 2024 India–Maldives diplomatic row/India–Maldives derogatory remarks into India–Maldives relations as it is too soon to judge the importance of the incident, though details of the incident and its implications should be included in the main article on relations between India and the Maldives. Possibly not warranting a stand alone article in the long term, but could/should be included in the proposed merge to article Josey Wales Parley 20:20, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I’m okay with either of the suggestions, but on a personal thought I thought of adding a section into the suggested merger, then too I also had a feeling it should be independent article Because it’s completely different from the relationship between two nations its a social network event that went too far. I think it should be a standalone article, albeit with a better title. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 21:13, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest, let's wait for a week. If any other significant events occur, we can treat this as a standalone occurrence; otherwise, we can integrate it into the existing page. Njoy deep (talk) 08:12, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
depends, there's a rumour of no confidence motion being taken up by Maldives opposition, if that happens then this is worthy to be included in India Maldives relations article under controversies section. 103.170.81.56 (talk) 12:57, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge to main article per above. Unneeded CFORK.  // Timothy :: talk  21:57, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge I have noticed a separate article titled "India–Maldives derogatory remarks" that seems to have limited content and may not warrant a standalone article in the long run. Therefore, I propose merging it with the main India–Maldives relations article.Regemoso (talk) 08:26, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Don't merge – As of 21 January 2024, Many more events have taken place: Including Maldivian prez's visit to China, Xi Jinping announcing aid for Maldives (i may be technically incorrect), his refusal to use an indian plane which resulted in the death of a boy, maldivian plummet in tourism, outrage in countries, the "dont bully us" remarks by the prez. All this should be added Pharaoh496 (talk)
  • Merge As of 22nd Jan Nothing special or significant happened which can be directedly linked to derogatory remarks article. All events occurring now are more suited for India–Maldives relations.

What? Mate, the tourism drop, the budget aid drop is all in a direct relation to what the remarks were Pharaoh496 (talk) 07:47, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Don't Merge, because, while I don't know the exact guidelines on how to deal with news events like this, it is too early to judge the relevancy of this topic right now - and probably continue to be until after the Indian general election in May/April.
