We need a translation

At present, it is not possible to buy an English translation of this book. Tant pis.173.72.115.153 (talk) 02:47, 18 July 2018 (UTC)DeMikeal Tibbetts[reply]

This situation was remedied in 2020. Polity Press issued an English translation, most likely by Andrew Brown.Lestrade (talk) 00:01, 1 January 2022 (UTC)Lestrade[reply]

Not quite right

In the Reception section , the following words are found: "Houellebecq's Schopenhauer commentaries offer an as thorough as original reading". Is there a missing word or two?108.24.200.168 (talk) 21:10, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Marvin Gardens[reply]

Title

The title may result in some readers’ understanding it temporally instead of spatially. Temporally, "presence" means "at the present time." Spatially, "presence" means "in the company or vicinity". It may be probable that Houellebecq meant that he feels spatially "near" or "close to" Schopenhauer, not that Schopenhauer is Houellebecq’s contemporary. The title might have been better translated as In Schopenhauer’s Presence.Lestrade (talk)Lestrade
