Why is a cookbook called "Islamic"?
In my understanding, "Islamic" refers to the religion, just as Christian or Hindu, for example. So I would rather call this a cookbook of Middle Eastern cuisine. We would not call a European collection of recipes a "Christian cookbook", right? - If there is no convincing objection, I will change this adjective in a couple of weeks. The choice of what to call European recipes was made by European historians, most likely with input from Europeans. "Islamic cookbook" may not be ideal (though it's in use). There are other options though: either Gil Marks ("Iraqi cookbook") or Michael Krondl ("Arab cookbook") would be ok. Spudlace (talk) 01:03, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
