Possible mistakes

To my knowledge first official (ultra) trail world championship was organized in 2016. by cooperation of newly founded ITRA (International Trail Running Association) and IAU. Prior to that unofficial world championships were organized as UTMB (Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc) (that is a common wording occurrence in reports and description of that race prior to 2016.) between 2003. (first edition of the race) and 2015. This article is my first word of official championships prior to 2016. so I suspect something is not right.

ITRA has listed from 2016 edition onwards on its site.

So if it wasn't even recognized as a discipline how could it be official championship?

Though we have here (https://www.aura.asn.au/trail-worlds/) the same information as it is in the article.
