Potential information to add

"In the Dominican Republic, more than 20,000 children under age 18 in prostitution. There is considerable documentation of the sexual exploitation of children in most of the countries in this region."[1] [2]

This was the exact quote and reference of the information I was talking about earlier. Melholle (talk) 14:35, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

feedback and questions

Hello! I am very interested in human trafficking in the Dominican Republic and as I was reading this I thought of some information that may be important to include within this page. The first is that it would be important and beneficial to have some statistics included within this. For example, I read an article saying that there are 200,000 youth who are being trafficked; I can provide that article name and author if desired.

It was good to talk about the laws surrounding human trafficking but it would make the article better to have a link that an individual could click on that sends him or her directly to this law.

In general, more expanding on certain statements would be really good. For example the article says, "Dominican men and women have been subjected to forced labor in the United States and Argentina." I was confused how this related to human trafficking specifically, however there most likely is a connection.

Thank you so much for putting this together-I can tell that it took a lot of effort and I look forward to seeing how this page develops! Also, please let me know if you have any questions. Melholle (talk) 06:28, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Melholle. Human trafficking is done for both forced prostitution and forced labor. You should know that this entire article was ported from the 2010 Trafficking in Persons report. Reports produced by the Office To Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons are reliable sources, but may have some bias because they are written from a US perspective. As you are interested in trafficking out of the Dominican Republic, you may also be interested in the Slovene Path. Gobōnobō + c 21:31, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
