Top Hospitality School

I added Virginia Tech with the reason being its program ranked #3 nation wide in term of research productivity Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research

  • How many were ranked? It would be great if you could relate the top ten or so. Cheers! bd2412 T 04:40, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
22 schools were ranked. top ten are in this order: cornell, michigan state, virginia tech, hong kong poly, u of nevada LV, penn state, purdue, u central florida, u of surrey (uk), and northern arizona. and i should say, worldwide, not nationwide.--underexpose 05:17, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! bd2412 T 05:28, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
i think the second paragraph need to be changed. the specific journal i were refering to rank each program in term of research productivity only. this should be noted. also, i believe the ranking is one-time, not annually.--underexpose 05:35, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But I'm pretty sure CHRIE does publish an annual ranking! bd2412 T 12:53, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
ok, if you insist :)--underexpose 18:18, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Definition

This page is merely a list of school that provide HTM program. I think we need to expand the definition or what "Hospitality Management" really is, what is the career prospective (sample job?), and probably what one could expect to learn when you enter the program. --underexpose 18:23, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Title change?

Surely this is entirely concerned with US schools teaching the subject. No mention whatsoever that it is also taught in eg UK see [1] or in Australia [2] - why not? Peter Shearan 18:19, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I donot have enough knowledge regarding the school outside USA; however, please feel free to add information for such school. thanks, underexpose 18:42, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal

I removed almost all the content of this article and left it as stub. The previous version only lists collection of schools. Per Wikipedia is not a collection of internal links except for disambiguation page and list article, I removed them. The article should explain about what is hospitality management. What subjects do they teach in the hospitality management school? Please expand this article into an encyclopaedia article where readers can understand what hospitality management is. Please do not list schools, because it turned the article into advertisement with a lot of peacock words all over the text. — Indon (reply) — 11:08, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Doing vandal patrol I found that this article had once again filled up with "advertisements with a lot of peacock words" which were attracting yet more; I have cleared it out again. Please do not add more ads for hotel schools - Wikipedia is not an advertising service. JohnCD (talk) 10:11, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Still, there's nothing wrong with listing the programs that are particularly notable, either for receiving high rankings in neutral publications, or for having unusually large numbers of graduates in the field. The key thing is that such assertions must be reliably sourced. bd2412 T 06:05, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

oops

"Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) can be a business major in either a Bachelors of Science, Bachelors of Commerce or a Bachelors of Arts."

actuuually, people may also take a Bachelor of Business Administration in it!! http://www.modul.ac.at/

Is mention of "newest graduate degree programs" spammy sounding?

"One of the newest graduate degree programs in hospitality management is offered by The George Washington University School of Business in Washington, D.C."

I'm not a regular editor and so will refrain from requesting removal of the above statement, but it has no sources and "newest" will always be out of date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oggusfoo (talkcontribs) 03:26, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
