deletion: not notable

disagree - I disagree with the "deletion: not notable" tag. Although this medal is rarely awarded, it is a pretty high and important honour in the Dutch honouring system, higher in ranking and precedence than the in the Netherlands very well-known "Resistance Memorial Cross" (Verzetsherdenkingskruis) and even higher in precedence than the international highly esteemed Dutch "Decoration of Merit" (Ereteken voor Verdienste). So, however not very well-known because seldom awarded, it is nonetheless an important award and therefore important enough to be mentioned at Wikepedia.

Deciding the existence and relevance of an article merely on basis how well-known it is, and not on basis of importance, is a form of fallacy, even more it is a very specific variant of "argumentum ad populum". Demophon (talk) 10:01, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No one knows it, no one writes about it, but it is "important" anyway because it is placed in some hierarchy. An assistant-dean is higher in thehierarchy than a professor, but iften the professors will be more notable. The "argumentum ad populum" is not a fallacy if some variant of it is one of the crucial guidelines on Wikipedia: WP:NOTE. If this award has not received any attention and is virtually unknown, then its "importance" is irrelevant. 07:40, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Probably, and thanks for finding these. This at least shows some notability. I'll let this rest for now (I sometimes change my mind, so no promises that I'll never take this to AfD though ;-) ). Fram (talk) 07:10, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged File:Ribbon_bar_golden_Dutch_Museum_Medal.jpg, which is in use in this article for deletion because it does not have a copyright tag. If a copyright tag is not added within seven days the image will be deleted. --Chris 00:33, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the copyright tag, so the image doesn't have to be deleted. Demophon (talk) 08:05, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
