Proposed Merger

If anyone noticed, the info on both sides run parallel, and since the centre of attention is the Holy Family, rather than its feast day, it should be merged into this article. Opinions? --Ariedartin 04:02, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely duplicated. It should be this article so that more information about the Holy Family itself could be added without confusion of titles. Goldfritha 14:18, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

this article is bias calling a bunch of nobodys the holy family this is offensive towards atheists me —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alpha774 (talkcontribs)

I'm sorry? The Holy Family is a part of certain Christian traditions and is hence information. It does not matter whether or not it offends you. While I offer you apologies, this has its place on Wikipedia, and your personal opinion does not change that. Ariedartin JECJY Talk 13:25, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glorious Family

I've seen the expression Glorious Family used before, although its usage would most likely have to be sourced further. ADM (talk) 22:17, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Claims that Count Saint Germain is Saint Joseph

I have found this interesting claim that Saint-Germain/Enoch/Metatron was also Saint Joseph, the husband of Mary. This would mean theologically that Joseph is an incarnation of the Holy Spirit and that he is divine in his non-incarnated form. Now, Metatron cannot sin, therefore any special relationship between Joseph and Mary would not be counted as sin. This would explain why many Catholics give a special cultus to Joseph and the Holy Family. [1] ADM (talk) 03:55, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When is it?

This article has two different explanations of when the Feast of the Holy Family is. Is it the Sunday after christmas or between Jan 7-13? It can't be both.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.149.66.32 (talkcontribs) 20:57, 22 July 2012‎

It is both. Which one depends on which Form of the Roman Rite is observed. The article documents the General Roman Calendar of 1962, which is used for the Extraordinary form of the Roman Rite and the General Roman Calendar which is used for the Ordinary form of the Roman Rite. Most parishes will use the Ordinary Form. It is the traditional parishes which celebrate the "Tridentine" Mass in Latin that use the Extraordinary Form and its associated calendar. Name of article

this article really ought to be titled "Feast of the Holy Family" since that is just about all it is about and not actually about the Holy Familmy themselves.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.149.66.32 (talkcontribs) 20:57, 22 July 2012‎

Actually, this article describes all there is to say about the Holy Family that isn't covered by other articles. See the 'Cultural references' section. There is doubtless more that could be added, but I am not sure how to avoid duplicating other articles such as Nativity of Jesus - and there are a lot of articles about Jesus - see Category:Jesus. Omissions?

Do other Christians have any interest in or devotion towards the Holy Family, or is it just Roman Catholics? Were the four brothers and the sisters of Jesus not holy too? --Hors-la-loi (talk) 11:11, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"both exclusive"

Given the explanation about what happens if Christmas falls on a Sunday, what is the meaning of "both exclusive" in "the feast is celebrated on the Sunday within the Octave of Christmas, that is, the Sunday between Christmas Day and New Year's Day (both exclusive) ...." --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 17:55, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

patronage

"The members of the Holy Family are the patrons of the Congregation of Holy Cross." The article goes on to list the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Sacred Heart, which are not titles of the Holy Family as such. The members of the Holy Family are patrons of all sorts of orders - in fact probably the only orders they aren't patrons of are of St Benedict or of the Holy Spirit. A reference here would enable the reader to find out what is meant. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 18:10, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
