Hello, I may edit/add to this article as part of a class. I'm an ecology and evolution PhD student. Just a heads up.

I am going to revise this article - needs major revision. My plan is to make different sections but still use the same sources and basic information, then add more sources for examples, expansion of the concept, etc. I'm going to take the focus off of identifying each use of the term and instead talk about implications for ecological theory and examples of holobionts in plants, etc.

I've finished with it for now. If anyone has a nice picture of microbes etc in a human gut, an ant, or a plant root that would be a cool thing to add. If I have time/inspiration I may make something using Photoshop and upload it to Wiki Commons. Popcorntea (talk) 22:55, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
