Talk:Haustorium

So, this definition confuses me a little bit....a haustorium does in face penetrate the host cell, keeping it alive by sucking nutrients from the cell...the HMC, or Haustarium Mother Cell, stays outside the cells and pushes the haustorium in.....

The Haustorial mother cell is what the haustoria differentiates from.

I don't think this should be called a botony stub. Fungi, or if I get it, phytopathology stub. (a Mentally Efficient Loonies And Nice Insane Elephants creation 14:22, 22 January 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Phytopathology if anything, oomycetes also use haustoria so just labeling it under fungi would be a bit misleading.

Also, should information on the use of haustoria to secrete proteins into the plant cell be mentioned? I know it occurs in oomycetes, but I imagine fungi do it as well? --Deepraine (talk) 19:08, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it should if you have the info. Million_Moments (talk) 08:30, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
