Hmm, a fungus article I haven't edited - okay, I will copyedit some straightforward changes and make note of those which are not straightforward as I go. Please revert if I inadvertently change meaning. let's go...Casliber (talk · contribs) 12:12, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think you'd want to buff the lead up a little - a very concise description is usual :)
  • Have added a couple of sentences to the lead about dimensions and antibiotic activity. Sasata (talk) 19:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Specifically, Handkea species..- aargh! Needs rewording. will have a go.
exoperidium - link or describe.
...three varieties are not clearly distinguished - I think you mean "demarcated" or something similar - i.e. 3 discrete entities rather than distinguished as in notable :)
  • Switched to the more explicit word demarcated. Sasata (talk) 19:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
gasteroid - needs explaining to the uninitiated
  • Have tweaked so that the explanation that follows is more obvious. Sasata (talk) 19:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Mindful of the bluelink policy, I think unlinking continents is better in the Distribution and habitat, and maybe link Chile. I think I try to only link smaller more exacting things these days.
  • Agree, have unlinked all the big places. Sasata (talk) 19:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Edibility section is thin, can't stick anything in about the taste (or lack thereof?)
  • Added something about taste and smell, and a bit about its low-fat content and fatty acid composition. Sasata (talk) 19:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is a pretty short article, but as is often the case with these damn fungi, knowledge is meagre. Question is, what else to add - similar species maybe. Others it is related to, i.e. how many in this genus, derivation of the genus name (a German scientist named Handke maybe?), and any more localisation of where it is found. Casliber (talk · contribs) 13:51, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added a "Similar species" section and more specific info about distribution. Can't find any info about the genus name, will probably have to order the 1989 Kreisel paper for that. At some point I will work more on the genus page which will have info about all the species, and name etymology. Thanks for the review! Sasata (talk) 19:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, all good. I was a bit worried about length but checked a few others recently and am happy that there are a few this length already. There are quite a few more candidates I can see... :) Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:51, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
