Actually serotonin is both, I changed the wording to reflect this. As far as the technical tag, there isn't really any way to simplify this, a diagram is really needed. I'll look for one on other brain anatomy articles. I also cleaned it up and added some wikilinks.--killing sparrows 10:36, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

more stuff
I've added a bunch of (referenced!) info and rearranged a little. There is much more to be said about the habenula, but I don't have time to say it all.
The only main thing I've removed is the claim that habenula does not project to the pineal gland: Rønnekleiv and Møller (1979) apparently found a connection, or so suggests section 2.2.1 in the Lecourtier and Kelly reference. If someone wants to add that claim back in, please include a reference for it.
I also removed the claim that the habenula is the only nucleus in the epithalamus. The page on the epithalamus does not seem to agree (though it has no references). - Link between habenula and deep depression
Hi! I'm not a specialist and I'm not sure if this news can be useful for this article, so I prefer the usual editors of this article to decide. I believe that it would be useful to include at least some abstract like "Some studies demonstrated the important role that habenula plays in certain kinds of deep depresions", and a reference to this news or the original article. Perhaps, even a reference to Dr. Sartorius hypothesis can be included.

Merge proposal
Support the August proposal to merge Habenular nuclei to Habenula. In modern use, they are the same structure, and historical differences in the terms are readily covered in the first sentence. So, merge to solve the duplication. Klbrain (talk) 21:10, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
