Ordered for the Chinese Government?
One of the references states that she was ordered for the Chinese Government to serve as part of Sherard Osborn's Vampire Fleet. This doesn't bear scrutiny; the three vessels involved were HMS Mohawk (1856), HMS Jasper (1857) and HMS Africa (1862) (see W L Clowes on the Taiping rebellion 1860 - 1862). According to Winfield (Winfield, R.; Lyon, D. (2004). The Sail and Steam Navy List: All the Ships of the Royal Navy 1815–1889. London: Chatham Publishing. ISBN 978-1-86176-032-6. OCLC 52620555.), Mullett was ordered by the Admiralty on 14 June 1859. Shem (talk) 11:54, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
