Real-life hauntings

Shouldn't there also be a section on the on-the-set hauntings that have been reported as well as the alleged ghostly images that have appeared on screen? There are a bunch of websites about this, and both the official website and JLH on her recent Tonight Show appearance also acknowledged this. 23skidoo 15:32, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When to "spoil"

NOTE: BIG SEASON ONE FINALE SPOILER AHEAD . . . . . . . . . Aisha Tyler's character dies in the first season finale. Due to it not being shown in other countries for months after the original May 2006 and pre-new season rerun of September 2006 airings, when is a good time to post that Aisha is no longer with the show and will be replaced by Camryn Manheim? . . . . . . . END SPOILERS

I reckon you can spoil anytime, if it is actually relevant to the article. Just make sure you keep the spoiler warning there as well. Iago4096 12:04, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Newer pictures?

Does anyone know of a picture that includes all of the cast? Including Camryn Manheim with Aisha Tyler? Or could we just find a picture of the current characters? -is disturbed by the fact an image of a current character is not available, but an image of a past character is- lol ~HJ [talk]@½ -18:34, 8 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Recurring Characters

Professor Rick Payne

Should Jay Mohr's character, Professor Rick Payne, be added to the recurring characters section? He has appeared in three episodes (Love Never Dies, The Ghost Within, and The Woman of His Dreams), and in those episodes he seems to have been a big help. I was just wondering... Meraculas 21:56, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to do that, sure. Starbuck-2 11:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I put him up, but I do not know all that much about him, so feel free to add to what is there, or remove it until there is more to say about him. Meraculas 22:13, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tim Flaherty

What about Thomas F. Wilson's (credited by Tom Wilson) character Tim Flaherty? He has appeared in "The Woman of His Dreams", "Deja Boo", "The Walk-In", and "Delia's First Ghost". He is a good friend of Jim's and has been trying to get Delia to go out with him, he even saved Charlie's life (Delia's ex-husband). Do you think he should be mentioned as a recurring character? --Meraculas 21:40, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grandview

I know that Melinda, Jim, and everyone else live in the town of Grandview, but where is it? I also know that Professor Payne works at the Rockland University, is their a real university by that name that might point to where the town is located? I am just curious to see if it was ever revealed where Grandview is. --Meraculas 22:11, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am aware of what I am doing, but I did a quick search here on Wikipedia. If Grandview on the show is a real town or based on a real town the best bet would prabably be in Illinois or possibly Indiana. Though I am most likely wrong. --Meraculas 22:24, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I thought there were a few episodes where New York license plates could be seen, but I'm not entirely sure. I think the show has all but out-right said that Grandview is located on the North-East Coast. --Michael24 02:21, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have done a little more research this time using Rockland University as a center point. There is a Rockland city in the US state of Maine which is along the east North-East Coast, so if there is a Grandview somewhere really close by, it could simply mean that anyone has to cross into a different city to get to Rockland U. But, I don't know, I could be completely off because the producers, writers, creators, or whoever else simply made Rockland U and Grandview up. Would at least be nice to know which state Grandview is in for reference... --Meraculas (talk) 14:06, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have not been able to positively identify a real location of Grandview but I know it is not in Ohio as this article states. There is a Grandview in Ohio but that cannot be where the show is located because in Season 3, Episode 14 "The Gravesitter" when Justin Yates is speaking to Melinda he keeps saying "back in Ohio" referring to where he used to live before Grandview. I also noticed in Season 3, Episode 9 "All Ghosts Lead to Grandview" Melinda tells Jim that Becca's parents should arrive the following afternoon from Kansas I think it was and they say something along the lines of how did a girl her age travel across 4 or 5 states. I wish I could pull out the episode for an exact quote but I do not have it. A character also states in the same episode "up in Michigan" but I do not recall what the statement was in reference to. I definitely agree that Grandview seems to be located on the east coast. I believe it has to be south of Michigan though. For some reason, I've always thought it might be in the Carolinas and I lean more towards North Carolina. That was just a hunch taking into account everything I remember being mentioned location-wise and the fact that the show portrays Grandview as being near the ocean. I just ran a search on www.noaa.gov for "Grandview". It came up with quite a list of cities in the country with the name and interestingly enough there is a Grandview, North Carolina. It is in Cherokee County though and on the show they are always saying Driscoll County. The city could be real and the county fictional I suppose. As others have said, I do not believe it has ever been stated where Grandview is and I, for one, would really like to know. Maybe it is completely fictional or maybe the shows creators just want to keep us guessing. Has anyone else come up with anything? CrazyKarma (talk) 04:57, 16 October 2008 (UTC)CrazyKarma[reply]

There is a Grandview in Missouri, other than that the college name doesn't ring a bell, but it's entirely possible to get to Kansas quickly, Grandview is fairly close to the border, being a suburb of Kansas City MO.

Afterlife section

is it really necessary? I deleted it because it's written in an in-universe type fashion and the characters mentioned are mostly minor and not mentioned anywhere else on the page. But once again: is it really necessary?-—Preceding unsigned comment added by The no erz (talkcontribs)

Hey!!!!!!!!

I made that section so viewers could know about the Light and Dark Side. And about the people who went to those places. I do not know which user you are but I worked hard on that section and you deleted it! I am sorry for my aggrevation and I apologizied for the fact the fact that I am not keeping a cool head but you did something really...disturbing. Season 3 DVD?

"The third season will only be released in region 4 and 2."

It's a little early to be speculating, isn't it? And why would season three not be released in Region 1 when the first two seasons were? The third season hasn't even been announced yet for DVD release since it's still airing. The earliest we could hear about it is likely May, when the first two seasons were announced. SPOILER......the story of mark, i think ended with mark crossing over in season 3. I don't know a lot of details, as I just seen the scene once. So, if somebody can add it in my place. w_tanoto (talk) 23:49, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah Yeah and technically Professor Payne should be dead next season - because that is the only way a non-spirit seeing type can think that 6 people are present (you always count yourself) but realize that there are only 5 shadows. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.23.124.142 (talk) 03:26, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was very damaged. It is the same set where Back To The Future was filmed. And it was a very well-known place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.50.196.229 (talk) 17:39, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The courthouse building itself, the entire square/lawn area with the statue, and the side with Melinda's antique store are still standing and received only minor damage. Only two sides of that particular area--to the right of the courthouse and directly opposite--were destroyed. The President of Universal has already said that the fire will not affect the show's planned September premiere for Season 4, so the destroyed areas will likely be rebuilt in no time. Production probably resumes in early-August, so they have about two months to repair it and will probably work around the clock. Here is a picture showing the damage and what is still standing. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rjhendrix/2547068650/sizes/l/in/set-72157605405479213/ --Michael24 16:41, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Official sites?

Is any of this official from CBS or anyone from Ghost Whisperer? Or is it just a couple of connected fan sites???

===andshamethedevil.net===
It has been recently discovered that andshamethedevil.net[1] is a site linked to Ghost Whisperer. The site is mentioned in the Season 3 premiere. If you visit the site and click on the word bloody, it leads to another site rubloodymary.com

Also, recently discovered: If you click on the star in the upper right hand corner, the site appears to crack into pieces. Those pieces can be removed by dragging, revealing this message:

"Meet Me In The Underworld"

Also in really tiny letters at the bottom read the words: "bloody mary. bloody marry. bloody mary."

===rubloodymary.com===
Another site discovered to be a part of Ghost Whisperer. rubloodymary.com is mentioned in episode 302 - "Don't Try This At Home" - which prominently features the Bloody Mary Urban Legend. When visiting rubloodymary.com if you click and hold down anywhere on the main page and scrub you can erase the image, revealing another image underneath that reads "...until she is trapped underground." Above that there is a countdown timer that, doing the math, counts down to Friday, October 26, 2007, episode 305 of Ghost Whisperer aired that night.

Other features: There is a stories link that takes you to a book with a Bloody Mary tale in it. The very last line reads "I hope she doesn't go in the church."

Finally, there is an email address to connect to, and several links, some to the Ghost Whisperer Myspace page and ghostwhisperer.com and one that links back to andshamethedevil.net which is another secret Ghost Whisperer site.

Computer Game.

In July 2009 a deal was finalised to develop a computer game based on Ghost Whisperer. It is not clear yet whether Ms Jennifer Love Hewitt will provide the voice for the game. The developers of the game say they look forward to providing fans of the T.V. show with an opportunity to extend their enjoyment of the programme into the gaming arena. The Game will be on P.C. format initially, and will follow closely the plot of the T.V. series. The game is expected in early 2010.Johnwrd (talk) 02:19, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing saying that Dead Whisper has anything to do with the show. It could just have close names thats all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.226.224.235 (talk) 15:41, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

鬼语者

Erm.. The chinese title 鬼语者 does not mean Ghost Whisperer in its true sense. Rather, it suggests someone (者) who uses ghost (鬼) language (语). However, 者 carries a very broad generalisation and without further context to narrow its meaning, it cannot be assumed that the purpose is always for communication. Maybe someone with a better creativity can come up with a better transliteration of the title. Ghost Language User, anybody?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.6.189.143 (talk) 13:55, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I followed the link to the Chinese wikipedia, where there is a chinese version of the article. They named it 灵感应, which means supernatural perception. The link is pasted below for your convenience.

As a sidenote, having multiple names for the same show is fairly common among chinese speaking regions - hong kong may have one name while taiwan has another name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.6.189.143 (talk) 14:09, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The user has been constantly reverting edits bavk to sources that are out of date. He also is removind references and putting a made up rating in the US Ratings section. If he could explain why he is doing these things and it seems logical, I could stop reporting and reverting him.ChaosMaster16 (talk) 11:52, 5 May 2009 (UTC)ChaosMaster16[reply]

I think its safe to say their reason isn't logical. I edited the premise to better reflect the show. For example, the concept of sin is not present or ever talked about. All the spirits seek is peace of mind. Also, I added information to the season description. It is a rule of Wikipedia that a summary has to have an ending. It must not exclude information for fear of spoilers! This is not an advertisement to get people interested. Its a description. If someone is afraid of spoilers then it would be foolish of them to read an article about the show. As it is. Im including spoilers. It is not sufficient to say things like "Melinda suffers a major loss". Its more informative to explain that Andrea dies. So does Jim. Of course he comes back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lollipopfop (talkcontribs) 13:18, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ABC

Not exactly the most reliable source, but ABC has apparently re-acquired the rights to Ghost Whisperer. They have no plans as to if they're going to produce a 6th season or just re-air reruns, but the show has changed hands. http://www.disneydreaming.com/2010/05/25/abc-has-picked-up-ghost-whisperer/ 99.23.80.200 (talk) 05:23, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I do believe that was in the article at one time. It is almost a month old now and has been replaced by more affirmative news that ABC is not going to bring us a season 6. The first time i read that site i was singing with glee. Then came the axe and i no longer sang. delirious & lost~talk to her~ 14:52, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship between Melinda and Gabriel

The paragraph related to season 3 states the true relationship between Melinda and Gabriel is unknown because we don't know who is Gabriel's father. However, on episode 5 of season 3 it's clearly stated by Gabriel they share a father and later Melinda says she has to show her birth certificate (which lists Tom Gordon) as her real father as a way to prove to the doctor that she's indeed family. The article also states this is not her true (biological) father, thus they aren't truly related in anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.129.94.240 (talk) 12:41, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is it just me

or is this a blatent ripoff of Bleach dulled down for middle age women. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.188.101.60 (talk) 23:19, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Its just you. Bleach is an anime with asian themed death gods. It has nothing to do with real human emotions or story lines. But you are correct in that GW is going to be watched by people over ten years of age, but Bleach is not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lollipopfop (talkcontribs) 13:20, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Besides. Ghost Whisperer has been around a few years before Bleach. So if anything Bleach is a rip of of GW for little asian kids. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lollipopfop (talkcontribs) 13:22, 6 April 2010 (UTC) @lollipopfop; wow, way to show ignorance. Bleach is aired for late-teens through late-twenties age watchers. At least, the japanese version is. I don't see how a show that's aired after midnight is meant for 10 year olds, other than the fact that it's animated. To automatically assume all animated shows are for 10 year old's though, is not only drastically incorrect, but plain stupid. :p[reply]

Just saying. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ZServ (talkcontribs) 02:18, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And yet its perfectly reasonable to assume ghost whisperer is only going to be watched by "middle age women".

Just Saying.The Talking Toaster (talk) 16:15, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Now it's time to end this flame war once and for all correcting everybody. Lollipopflop is very mistaken, as Bleach is on ADULT swim and the people who say that GW came before Bleach are very wrong also because if you look at the articles you will see that GW was made in 2005 and Bleach was first serialized in Shonen Jump in 2001. Seems like only the troll did his research this time.184.91.122.179 (talk) 22:42, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
