A lot of fair criticism from Sampson in the above. It'll take a bit of work to get this article up to speed. Sampson's written a good deal of pretty technical stuff over the course of a long and fruitful academic career. I'll see what I can do by way of producing something actually in line with standards for good biography. It'll have to wait a month while I do some academic work myself.
