Not money, nothing unusual. Senior RSMs for division or corps level units in the British Army are always commissioned to at least the rank of Captain but wear the WO1 rank slide and assume RSM duties. What pay they get I'm not sure, most likely LE Captain pay. Similarly, if you noticed, the Queen Elizabeth-class carriers Captains are actually substansive Commodores', but wear the four-ring Captain slide. As Dormskirk referenced, a large number of WO1s and WO2s get promoted to LE officers and are sometimes but quite often gazetted in the London Gazette. The trick is to find their names of course. Sammartinlai (talk) 11:17, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is not misleading. Army Sergeant Major is the most senior OR in the British Army, funnily not stated in the Queen's Regulations. Will the appointment holder always be a LE officer? I don't know. Whatever, it is the most senior other rank for the British Army. (PS: I see you were RAF, wouldn't you care to know a bit more? :) Sammartinlai (talk) 13:43, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
