Proposed New Layout

The article could be better structured if set up like this:

1. Original Founding--Indian Protection Service[1], scandal, etc. 2. Re-Establishment as FUNAI 3. Protection of Indigenous Rights--health survey, demarcation 4. Controversies--introduction of Western practices, pesticides, issues with demarcation

Missing actuality in actual government changes

By decree, FUNAI is no longer subordinated to the influential Ministry of Justice, but to the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights. This change was prompted by the Bolsonaro government, which, through extensive deregulation, dismantled or de facto "eroded" the state protection of indigenous peoples and the rainforest. The Guardian reports that this has far-reaching consequences: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jan/02/brazil-jair-bolsonaro-amazon-rainforest-protections and https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/dec/31/tribes-brazil-genocide-jair-bolsonaro Al Jazeera reports that there is targeted violence against indigenous people: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/02/brazil-indigenous-groups-decry-bolsonaro-escalating-attacks-190213205305375.html and https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/01/brazil-bolsonaro-targets-minority-groups-day-office-190102202755422.html The difficulty now would be to present these in a value-free manner, whereby it is absolutely necessary to present them out of the imperative of topicality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.188.6.21 (talk) 13:13, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's done now, please check if there is anything missing. --Chris Howard (talk) 21:24, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
