The Friendship Sloop races are no longer held in Friendship but in Rockland (20 miles east) when they are held at all. The page should reflect more history of this beautiful sloop and of the reasons the races moved away (the town is famous for not being very friendly to "people from away"). It is a hard-working village, dedicated to lobstering and grimly determined to avoid Camden-ization, rejecting all applications to open restaurants, hotels, waterside cafes and so on. It also claims to load more lobster than any other town in Maine. A sizeable summer-resident community likes it this way and pays most of the taxes that keep the town alive. Someone better versed in the details than I should update and deepen this entry on one of coastal Maine's last non-chic places.

Didn't mean to inject Joanne (thanks neighbor) - but your history on this page is all wrong - There is a book about the Cooks, the Jamesons, and the Wallaces that settled Friendship before the Bradfords -showed up - our clans worked with the Indians, settled down and THAT is what Friendship was named after and founded for /// Wikipedia should do some research before they publish poop like this....

My sincerest apologies from you being "from away" - missed you in the battle....
