Care of Kittens with Rhinotracheitis

I think it is very important that there be a section on advice about kittens with rhinotracheitis. When my litter of eight kittens contacted this virus, I searched all over the web for any advice. I lost two kittens (I euthanized them because my vet advised me to do so because they had signs of the virus and had stopped feeding). It was not until I met a third vet who refused to euthanize a third kitten and gave me new instructions. Now, all six in the litter are thriving.

They were under a week old and the vet put them on antibiotics. Most importantly, the vet showed me how to "tube feed" (NOT force-feed) the kittens who refused food. Tube-feeding them every 2-3 hours is extremely important. If only I had known this in the beginning.
