Anachronisms

In Season 2, Episode 2, The Maddest of All, Father Brown "remembers from his botany" all about psilocybin, which, being derived from mushrooms wouldn't be covered in botany, and in any case didn't hit the scientific literature until 1957.

Cougar

I am alerting my English grammar club. In this article the last episode of the second season has a character described as a "cougar". "Cougar" is an American slang that first materialized about ten years ago to describe a sexy, middle aged, usually divorced, female. This is not a slang used on the show, and not a slang used in in 1950s England (or 2014 England). - Mdriver1981 (talk) 16:38, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Character appearances

The BBC website is inaccurate re cast lists. Lady Felicia appears in episode 1 but is not credited at the end and does not appear in episode 5 but is credited on the website but not on the episode. Sergeant Armstrong seem to be in the background in most episodes but not credited. REVUpminster (talk) 12:01, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio

Wikipedia:Copyright violations: You cannot copypaste summaries. It is lazy and when it leaves question marks that you cannot have in an encyclopedia that is there to answers questions. You do not have to give the whole plot away in a short summary (that would be for an episode article) but a general feel what the episode is about. Second series

No. On an article title a year (the first year) is only used when there is more than one tv series with the same name. There are plenty of examples throughout Wikipedia.REVUpminster (talk) 15:54, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Series 3 (2015)

I notice the BBC now lists this (on the series webpage) as only having 10 episodes, rather than 15. Might this be a mistake in the original press release? Radio Times list "The Man in the Shadows" as 1/15. The official site often gets things wrong. The best example is Death in Paradise where the fictional island of Saint Marie veers back and forth with Saint-Marie which is not used in the actual series.REVUpminster (talk) 07:46, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Father Brown's Bicycle

The bicycle [1] appears to be[2] a Pashley Roadster. [3] The brooks saddle, the modern pedals and the adjusters on the brake cables lead me to believe that it is current model and not an antique.

Guest stars

The series does not actually list guest stars in the opening titles, with only a cast credit at the end, no matter how famous and this section seems to have got out of hand seemingly list all actors that have appeared. REVUpminster (talk) 06:42, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Padre

"Inspector Gerald 'Jerry' Mallory ... is often exasperated by Father Brown, whom he sarcastically refers to as 'Padre"."

This phrase appears to be copy-and-pasted into almost every description of Mallory on the web and in print. Mallory is a sarcastic person, and sarcasm is evident in much of his dialog. There is nothing specifically sarcastic about his calling Brown "Padre." Brown and Mallory both served in the army, in wartime, and "padre" is standard military jargon for a priest. It makes sense to note Mallory's sarcastic nature, but referring to Brown as "Padre" is not sarcastic. 172.58.223.159 (talk) 20:03, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know when the section appeared and it is basically trivia, but it is real world information about the actors and not the characters and wikipedia likes real world information. The main heading should be cast and characters.REVUpminster (talk) 09:28, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lulu and Lucia

Lulu and Lucia is an erotic novel that turns up in early episodes of Father Brown written by Lol Fletcher either on a table or being read by somebody.
