Smiling and frowning

More to smile imo. Broadly smiling recruits muscles all over the face. Muscles around the mouth, eyes and even the forehead (frontal belly of occipitofrontalis) contracts a bit, whereas frowning mostly recruits muscles which move the eyebrows and forehead and not the middle and lower face. On the other hand, if you are like me and you tend to bare your teeth and snarl a bit when frowning then probably it uses the same amount of muscles. I don't hold with those frequently cited numbers since sometimes they exceed the total number of muscles in the face! =D >:( Lesion (talk) 03:17, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Facial muscles or muscles of facial expression

I think the title of this page is misleading. "Facial muscles" just refers to any muscles in the face, whereas this article is titled "facial muscles" and is restricted to the muscles of facial expression, excluding the muscles of mastication. Masseter the anterior part of temporalis are very much located in the face.

We should have a main article called facial muscles, and then 2 separate sub-articles for muscles of facial expression and muscles of mastication. Lesion (talk) 03:17, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Article is human specific

Animals have facial muscles too. Move to Human facial muscles? Or include details of animals? Leg, for example, is not species-specific. 185.74.25.174 (talk) 15:09, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
