EESI vs FD-ESI

This Wikipedia article ignores the development of fused-droplet electrospray ionization (FD-ESI) source (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ac010788j) which is very similar but was invented earlier (in 2002). The name "Extractive electrospray ionization (EESI)" seems to appear in literature later (after the publication of FD-ESI). Is EESI a really new concept compared to FD-ESI? I suggest researching this topic to a greater extent, and correcting inaccuracies to avoid confusion. Moreover, the article seems to distinguish between "standard EESI" and other (non-standard?) versions. The difference between the standard and some non-standard EESI setups is not less than the difference between the standard EESI and some of those techniques which do not belong to EESI (cf. introduction).
