The formulas shown are not both polynomial equations.

The article refers to "polynomial equations", but one of the equations shown, for the Equal Earth Projection isn't a polynomial equation.

It would be better to say "equations that are based on polynomials".

One variable is missing

The equations shown feature just one variable ( $\theta$ , which seems to depend from latitude $\phi$ ), but they should definitely include another one (longitude). In any case, the dependency of $\theta$ from $\phi$ could be more straightforward (e.g. the formula put in explicit form), and a clear declaration of variables should be added to the accompanying text. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Il wage (talk • contribs) 05:45, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hobo Dyer origin?

Was the Equal-Earth Projection inspired by Hobo-Dyer?

I ask because of how similarly those two projections portray Africa.

This isn't criticism. There's nothing wrong with stark unrealism.
