I wasn't sure how to incorporate this into the article, so I just drop it here hoping someone will do the job.

elaboration needed
This statement: "The epipubic bones were first described in 1698..." needs a bit more information! Who did the describing, and from what animal? Presumably an American opossum, as Australia with all its marsupials hadn't been discovered then - or was it from a marsupial from the eastern end of the East Indies? 120.18.170.74 (talk) 06:34, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
