Bryan Forbes

It is disgraceful that Bryan Forbes' entire tenure at Elstree Studios has been whitewashed out. Indeed there is no mention of him or his successful films (Railway Children, Go-Between, Tales of Beatrix Potter etc) at all. I hope that I have now corrected this, but shame on whoever withheld this information. Having just watched the extras on the newly released DVD The Elstree Story it would appear that the so-called Studio Historian who presents the piece has also chosen not to mention Forbes AT ALL. What sort of historian is that and what does it say about Wikipedia that such a glaring omission has not been picked up on? Manxwoman (talk) 20:16, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps I'm reading your message in completely the wrong way (apologies if that is the case), but the talk page really isn't the right place to vent your frustration. It's main aim is to provide a space to discuss the article in question, talk over points in detail, and resolve any edit disputes. I don't know what connection you have to Forbes (family, friend, biggest fan, I really have no idea) but you're clearly very passionate about him, and I can understand your grievances about the omission. However, attacking Wikipedia editors over some apparent conspiracy to wipe him out of history is a little out of order - I'm sure it's just simply that no editor present was aware of Forbes' contributions, and hence didn't add it in. That's certainly my personal position, and I'm sure that many of my fellow editors would agree with me. Aw16 (talk) 13:08, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your point is well taken and for clarity I have no connection with Forbes at all, except for being a huge British Films fan and was truly shocked at the omission. I would have thought that if anyone had been compiling the history of the studio and had done their research, they would have found the huge contribution that he had made. It would be like doing a history of Ealing Studio and missing out Michael Balcon! I was just in a double-shock having just watched the DVD I mentioned. Conspiracy's jump to mind!!! Orphaned references in Elstree Studios

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Elstree Studios's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

This article describes Elstree Studios as a collective term. However http://www.elstreestudios.co.uk seems to describe a single company. What is the true (current) situation? --139.222.99.102 (talk) 14:07, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

British and Dominion

Hello.

It says that The Private Life of Henry VIII was produced by British & Dominion Film Studios. However the article itself says it was produced by London Film Productions. Should this article be split?

Although they share portions of their history, I do find this article's shared history section detailing both Clarendon Road and Shenley Road quite confusing, given that there are essentially two separate entities located in the same town (plus a variety of other studios). Does anyone agree that moving some of the content from the Clarendon Road section to the current redirect BBC Elstree Centre would mean that the histories and usage of both sites could be explored more fully?
