Featured article review needed: considerable source-to-text issues
This 2009 FA has considerable source-to-text issues and should have a Featured article review as soon as possible. I note that concerns have been raised in the past:
Of more recent concern, in a brief spotcheck of sources, I found NONE of those I checked were verified, and suggest that a top-to-bottom re-examination should be undertaken here, along with an urgent Featured article review. As some of these were present in the version that passed FAC, this does not seem to be a matter of changes since the FAC, rather original error. Samples:
This version of Madison is the same as the once cited when the FAC was passed, and still today. When the FAC was passed, the article said "In 1890, Lilly founded the Commercial Club and was elected as its first president"; the article still says that. The source only says he was the driving force behind organizing the Club ... nothing about first president that I can find.
None of the text cited to Madison page 5 is verified by Madison: By the time of his retirement from his business, around 1890, Lilly was a millionaire who had been involved in civic affairs for several years. and During the Panic of 1893, Lilly created a commission and none of the text about his son Josiah is found on page 5 of Madison.
Also from Madisonpage 1 of Madison re "crack battery" what is in this article not only seems to have the wrong person, there is nothing about his classmates, etc.
There are basic errors about various battles: Second Chattanooga August (not September) 1863 and was not an important battle.
I continued checking sources and found considerable issues of concern everywhere I checked: a top-to-bottom examination at FAR is in order. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:05, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
