Would one of these Egnatii listed be the same as Gnaeus Egnatius, praetor in 146 BC & the man who constructed the Via Egnatia? Or would he receive his own listing? -- llywrch (talk) 22:55, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't look like it; they were listed in approximate chronological order, since there are no distinct families. I've added an entry for him. P Aculeius (talk) 03:30, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Egnatius Proculus

There are currently two articles referencing people of this name: (A) Quintus Egnatius Proculus (suffect consul 219) and (B) Quintus Egnatius Proculus (same name w/o qualifier). Both were created by Cupertino, the banned user who created tons of articles with genealogical trivia only. Since its creation, A has undergone significant expansion (and a page move), and now some of its contents overlap with article B. For example, both articles now claim their subjects married a daughter of the consul Marius Perpetuus (cf. CIL IX, 6414), with A showing some uncertainty and not disclosing the wife's name.

Cupertino originally created the articles under the names Egnatius Proculus for A (since then moved) and Quintus Egnatus Proculus for B. The PIR (to which I don't have access) also has one Egnatius Proculus (E 29) and one Quintus Egnatus Proculus (E 31), and so Cupertino may well have been correct in creating those two pages back in 2009. The RE on the other hand has only a single entry (Egnatius 33). So I'm at a loss as to whether or not these two are the same person and should be merged. I'll leave the problem registered here, fow now. Here are the first revisions of articles A and B, as Cupertino originally conceived them, for convenience.
