Interment

Following Williams' death in New Providence NJ, the two refs for his place of burial at first glance seem contradictory:

  • Brooklyn Daily Eagle - Greenwood (linked to Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn)
  • Times Union, Brooklyn - New Providence NJ

However, I wonder whether the Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton might be another possibility as it is not far from New Providence. Perhaps there were obituaries in the New Providence papers? Davidships (talk) 16:04, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Davidships: Yes, I agree it is confusing. However, FAG lists him at Green-Wood: Edward Francis Williams, Lot 9594, Section 13. The one source just says Greenwood, but his Ancestry profile lists family members living in Brooklyn so there may be a family plot even though he moved to New Jersey. --Greg Henderson (talk) 16:47, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Greg. I agree that Brooklyn is credible, especially if his father Jabez is amongst the relations, as their shipyard was at Williamsburg, then later Greenpoint. It would be good to have a second Green-Wood ref. Davidships (talk) 18:40, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Commons category

@DocWatson42:, what is the reason for using "commons category inline" instead of "commons category"? When you use "commons category", you get a nice formated image and the message: "Wikimedia Commons has media related to Edward F. Williams (shipbuilder)"; but when you use "inline" you only get a smaller image with no box and the text: "Media related to Edward F. Williams (shipbuilder) at Wikimedia Commons". Is there a reason you prefer the inline? --Greg Henderson (talk) 23:26, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Greghenderson2006: I try to avoid standalone box templates because of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout#Links to sister projects. I don't have much objection to them personally (I do find a fully-loaded "Sister projects" template in a section by itself is a bit much), but would rather avoid having my edits involving them changed or reverted because an editor objects to a box-only section. I do prefer to keep portal templates in "See also" sections and sister projects links in "External links" sections for consistency and ease of finding. —DocWatson42 (talk) 23:38, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
