Private Dwyer?

Was he a private during the battle for Hill 60? I have a copy of the Boy's Own Annual for 1915-16 which refers to him as Lieutenant E. Dwyer, although a Lance Corporal at the time of the German assault on Hill 60. I'm not sure how reliable this is as a reference. PekingSpring (talk) 21:07, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sergeant Dwyer can be heard speaking about his service in The Great War on the CD 'For Valour :The Victoria Cross 1914-1945'. An excerpt from his recording is used and credited in the close of the song 'Trenches' recorded by John Mayall on his CD Blues for the Lost Days.

Date of Birth - Age

According to the 1901 and the 1911 census Dwyer was younger than he said he was. (That's presuming I have the right one,)His birth appears to be registered in 1898 in Fulham. To be sure - who were his parents - anyone know? Brakn (talk) 15:40, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is the recording really under copyright?

Being that it was released in 1916 isn't it public domain? This page claims it as copyright but if it is not it should be moved to Commons: youtube Nesnad (talk) 17:14, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
