Lede

The lede currently is

Edith Minturn Sedgwick Post (April 20, 1943 – November 16, 1971) was an American actress and fashion model. She is known for being one of Andy Warhol's superstars.[1] Sedgwick became known as "The Girl of the Year" in 1965 after starring in several of Warhol's short films in the 1960s.[2][3] She was dubbed an "It Girl",[4][5] while Vogue magazine also named her a "Youthquaker".[6]

An editor, Laurencebeck, is wanting to make some changes here, so here's a place for the matter to be discussed by all of us. My first impression is that the lede is OK as it, not broke don't fix. But willing to be convinced. Herostratus (talk) 09:37, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Herostratus, the change proposed doesn't seem encyclopedic. In particular, it is written non-neutrally, and contravenes the guideline WP:Words to watch. LK (talk) 10:26, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
LK, I hope you don't mind that I shortened your contribution to the lede, as it seemed undue to focus too much on her decline and death that it overshadowed what she actually did that was notable, which is to star in many Warhol films as a Warhol "Superstar". If you object to my changes, please feel free to restore the content. On another note, I agree with the changes that Herostratus made. Netherzone (talk) 13:52, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gave up drugs?

The text says: "She gave up drugs and alcohol after meeting her future husband Michael Post, and completed filming Ciao! Manhattan in early 1971. Post and Sedgwick married in July 1971; she died four months later of an overdose at age 28."

So apparently she had not given up drugs! At least this needs clarification. GeneCallahan (talk) 19:11, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
