good idea. In our global society the antiquated Euro-centered idea of "discovery" seems ludicrous. The 5 (now 6) continents existed long before the Europeans finally "discovered" them.--dunnhaupt (talk) 12:02, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And? So? Discovery means finding or finding out something you didn't know before. Yes, we need to acknowledge that Europeans were not the first to discover anywhere that already had a population, but that doesn't mean the idea of discovery (or "discovery") is ludicrous. I also believe that this should be removed.

Any topic, no matter how serious or sensitive, can be discussed civilly. Taking a single paragraph to attack European culture without some sort of counter opinion or discussion, comes across as mean spirited.   • Oppose This would perhaps be the main topic if we were a dictionary, but it seems like readers are split on which topic they are seeking, with that one nowhere near the top. But I even think topics like Exploration are very likely the intended destination for more readers than this page, or the concept of legal discovery, far more than this synthesized page of mostly original research about the concept.--Yaksar (let's chat) 04:49, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
