Problems

A few problems with this article: this is an encyclopedia, not a dictionary. In any case, it's not explained that 'dirtbag' is a slang term, which is really mandatory if you're defining a word. Saying that a dirtbag 'continually disregards others and humanity in general' is a matter of opinion (certainly, no authority is cited for this), as well as the fact that it's fairly tautological (ie, what's the difference between 'others' and 'humanity in general'?) Now that I think of it, the first sentence is also tautological (ie what's the difference between an 'uncouth person' and someone who 'lacks class'?). In my high-school years, and this was over 20 years ago, "dirtbag" was generally not a self-identification term. "Dirtbag" was, and I believe still is, overwhelmingly applied as a slur against others, usually males, in a derogatory context. People who others called dirtbags, typically self-identified as metalheads, motorheads, burners, stoners, hippies, punks, even jocks. Females who demonstrated the same tastes in music, fashion and recreational substances would more likely be labelled "slut", "tramp" or "skank". I dropped out of scene-ism when goth-ism was evolving; I can only imagine that many of those who were of coming of age as "dirtbag" was circulating into common parlance are now looking at their kids' goth-y friends and grumbling "omfg, what dirtbags".

Sociopathy is not a defining feature of dirtbag-ism. A polite and sensitive young man who identifies with the "metal" subculture, perhaps in addition to a casual enjoyment of cannabis, might easily find himself labelled a "dirtbag". This, in the same way that a young man with a flamboyant fashion sense and a preference for popular dance music might be derided as a "faggot", regardless of actual sexual orientation. --daytonvh of the hotmail, dot com

Problems (again)

I agree: this is an encyclopedia not a dictionary. People need to get clear on what the purpose of this site is. Probably a waste of time writing this here, but there are many, many articles on Wikipedia that are just about defining a word - ie, they're dictionary entries and don't below here.
