No need to go around and diss the band, it's just a matter of opinion, but the tracker needs its own page.

Shouldn't we clarify whether it is the band or the bittorrent tracker???

Dear god yes, why in the world and who decided ever swedish/norwegian/etc death/horror/agressive/etc metal band deserves its own page and to be constantly linked throughout the wiki to all manner of other articles. I first started running into this with cthulhu pages, then comics, now when looking for background on a bittorrent tracker. --68.231.174.183 13:45, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Surpised to see this type of article?

I am still learning about the type of allowed articles. I realize that the Beatles, Rolling Stones, or Pink Floyd are noteworthy bands. However, what about obscure bands, like a high school rock band? Is a certain level of fame or notoriety required? Is it that this article is not inherently self-promoting?

High school bands don't have deals with major labels.

why is there an article on an obscure deathmetal band with like a fanbase of about 50 people while demonoid.com the bittorrent website with hundreds of thousands of members is not mentioned?

Clearly the torrent is signicially bigger, but it would appear like a more serious debate if some people kept a more respectful tone. Over 10.000 copies sold is not 50 people. Get facts before you start mocking at least.

I have to agree that this band seems a little less significant than demonoid.com, the page shows that the forums have 2 million users. Unless someone can show that this band is of equal or greater significance (eg. reviews in papers, websites) then i would suggest reinstating demonoid.com with a disambig link to this page. Nice to see some serious arguments as well. Here are two reviews:

And the bands ugly webpage:

Need tracker page

I'm not expert enough at wiki editing to make a disambiguation page and include both the band and the tracker on it, but I feel that the tracker is much better known than the band, so the tracker should at least have a wiki page. I have made a start of a page at Demonoid (BitTorrent), but it needs a lot of expansion. Could the right people do this? See the talk page of that page for more information.

I don't think a disambiguation page is necessary in this case as there are only two uses of this word. I have added a link to the BT tracker article at the top of this one. dystopianray 07:06, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - hopefully that new page will get some content soon - I'll try to work on it if I get some spare time. --Wierdy1024 21:21, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Torrent page has been deleted, and the former page where it was has been protected from being created, as per a VfD. I too came for information about the tracker page. Chalk another one up for the deletionists.

I guess I am a little confused, why did they delete the page about the extremely popular tracker but they leave a page for an obscure Swedish metal band that released its only CD 3 or so years ago? 69.251.68.76 00:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC) Adam[reply]

Some people take it as a holy mission to remove all mention that illegal activity happens on the Internet. I would posit that those same people need to be relieved of their status for a blatant conflict of interest. ;) Orethrius 07:57, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have any personal opinion about this whole thing and also I'm not objective once being a part of Demonoid (the band). But fo the sake of clarity; here's some facts:
• Demonoid started as a project, but later became a real band.
• Demonoid have made one album (second to come soon) that have sold over 10.000 copies even though he band never played live to promote it, and is signed to Europes largest metal label. Not The Beatles, but not obscure either.
• The debut album consisted of members from the rather large metal act Therion and being an encycopedia there might be a bigger interest writing about the band as such rather than the band it self. Readers who wants to find info about Therion and it's members is another apect to add to the actual popularity of the band. If Wikipedia is only writing the most obvious fact about everything, it may loose some of its purpose.
I hope this was of some help for you guys. Christofer Johnsson —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.225.144.44 (talk) 13:51, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

this is not a real band

this article will be gone

these people are trying to cash in on demonoid torrent tracker —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.240.230.139 (talk) 04:40, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"this is not a real band"? While it's open to debate whether or not a (so far) single album venture should merit it's own page on the Wiki, there's no doubt this is a "real" band.

And "trying to cash in on the demonoid tracker"... what about actually reading the articles? The band was formed in '02, while the tracker was launched '04. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DrKarling (talkcontribs) 07:30, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gesa Hangen??

Who is Gesa Hangen?? She never had anything to do with Demonoid. Christofer Johnsson —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.225.144.44 (talk) 14:24, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
