A large portion of this article would more properly belong in the "culture of Denmark" article, which currently has nothing in it. I think I might move it, unless someone objects. Peregrine991 16:07 28 Jul 2003 (UTC)

I have removed the most irrelevant historical stuff, including some absolutely unproven theories about the origin of the Danes back in the dark ages. Actually I never heard the version mentioned here before. It is more commonly thought that the Danish people emerged from Jutes, inhabitating Jutland, and Danes, originally a tribe on the Danish isles and in Scania, and possibly Angles (of South Jutland). Anyway, it doesn't belong in this article. I extended the 'Religion' section a little, although it should be in a separate article. --Sasper 06:57, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Lead Section

One glaring problem with this article is the lack Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). of introduction. It seems to just jump right into it as if it were originally part of the Denmark article and hastily thrown onto this page. Demographics_of _Denmark _#Ethnicgroups

These numbers are way off. The CIA factbook does not give numbers for each group, it simply lists the significant minorities: "Scandinavian, Inuit, Faroese, German, Turkish, Iranian, Somali". The Germans number only about 15,000 [1] --which amounts to about 0.3% of the population (not 5%). I can't find ethnic composition on the Danmarks Statistik website. Could someone look it up please? For now, I will simply erase the offending paragraph.--Anthon.Eff (talk) 17:07, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Germanization

1. “Germans are descendants of German settlers […] during the 18th and 19th centuries, especially between 1864 and 1920”: please give a reliable proof for this very strange statement. It has indeed existed a continuous German – but likewise also a continuous Danish - immigration since the Duchy of Schleswig existed, but the statement that the German immigration only started or mostly happened during the 18th and 19th century in the Northern part should be verified by a reliable source.

I think the author is mixing some things: the normal and continuous immigration, the additional people that came in the 18th century to both Schleswig and Denmark (!) and the people who came in the 19th century from other parts of Schleswig and Holstein.

2. „small minority“ is POV – what is small? The meaning of a minority is including that it’s smaller than the majority, isn’t it?

CIA

Why is the CIA factbook pasted into this article? It list some Scandinavian ethnic groups together and leaves faroese outside. Since Danes is the majority and people immigrated from, or descendant there of, norway or sweden count for 30810 (people living in Denmark by july 2010 according to Danmarks Statistik (numbers pulled today)) it would in this case, as Denmark is a Scandinavian country be more correct to ungroup these. According to Danmarks statistik, the 10 largest groups of non danes are (immigrated/descendant): Turks 32355/27299, Germans 27838/2745, Iraqis 21365/8787, Poles 25717/3117, Lebanese 12035/11893, Bosnians 17853/4439, Pakistanis 11354/9337, Somalians 1011/6808, Yugoslavs 10875/5950 and Norwegians 14356/1414. 94.145.236.194 (talk) 15:13, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Religion

According to the numbers from the CIA World Factbook, 95% of Danes are Evangelical/Lutheran Christians, 3% are other Christians, and 2% are Muslims. Creating Immigration to Scandinavia Page

Hi I am interested in creating an additional page about Immigration to Scandinavia and the specific details of the conflicts that rise regarding access to the social services offered within welfare states and issues of recent cultural and racial diversity in nations that have historically been very heterogeneous. I am also considering adding a page on Immigration to Denmark since one has not been created yet.

Have any of you considered creating a page or heading about Immigration to Denmark as an expansion of your section Minorities in Denmark? Do you foresee any issues in creating either of these pages?

Eliminating Redirect from Immigration to Denmark

I'm planning to move forward with the creation of the Immigration to Denmark page. I would like to keep the page name Immigration to Denmark because it is the standard title for other pages about immigration such as Immigration to Norway, Immigration to Sweden, and Immigration to the United States. Keeping this standard title will help users searching to find the page. As of right now, when Immigration to Denmark is entered in the search bar, users are redirected to Demographics of Denmark. Orphaned references in Demographics of Denmark

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Demographics of Denmark's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
