To mention in article

Is this done with hot water, or with cold water? Also, the longer one boils an herb, the more "bitter principle" is extracted. This should be mentioned in the article. Badagnani (talk) 04:14, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hot water to the best of my knowledge, see the new etymology section. Bitter principles as alkaloids? Some bitter compounds may be degraded by extended boilingApothecia (talk) 09:17, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The ethymology is wrong. Particle 'de' in this case is a short for 'des' to indicate decomposition through 'coccion'.
