Place of publication

According to the title pages of actual issues of the magazine itself found at the University of Michigan archive, DeBow's was published by Wiley and Putnam in New York City for only the first couple of years of its existence. The last issue I can find that bears the Wiley and Putnam publishers mark is Volume 4 in 1847. By the early 1850's the publisher marks all say either New Orleans or New Orleans and Washington City. By the start of the Civil War it was the most widely circulated southern periodical. DeBow wrote much of each issue himself.

• 2nd one is "according to" 2nd External link from UofV
• I do not have circulation info for Harperr's
• I see no ads in the on-line version - not sure if that represents the entire publication
• For the first few years, the NY publication might be a later reprint - has later date on it
